PRINCETON, N.J. — Kate MacKenzie ended a marathon game 6:34 into the third overtime on Friday, giving Quinnipiac a 3-2 victory over Princeton in the first game of a best-of-three ECAC Hockey quarterfinal series.

Steph Neatby made 60 saves for Princeton, one more than the total for Quinnipiac’s Sydney Rossman. Both played the entire 106:34, which is nearly 40 minutes short of the longest women’s college hockey game, won by New Hampshire in 145:35 in 1996.

Meghan Turner and Raquel Pennoyer scored early in the third period for the Bobcats, who trailed 2-0 after two periods. Carly Bullock and Kelsey Koelzer scored in the second to give the Tigers the lead.
