Minnesota State 5, Northern Michigan 3
Nicholas Rivera’s short-handed goal at 13:05 of the second period stood up as the game-winner, and Brad McClure added a power-play goal at 1:27 of the third for some insurance as host Minnesota State snapped Northern Michigan’s six-game win streak and nine-game unbeaten streak with a 5-3 win. Zeb Knutson opened the scoring at 3:26 of the first, breaking Atte Tolvanen’s scoreless streak of 339:05; that mark is second in NCAA men’s history behind Lake Superior State’s Blaine Lacher (375:01). Zach Diamantoni scored at 8:46 of the first to tie it for Northern Michigan, and also scored at 17:45 of the third to pull the Wildcats to within two goals, but it wasn’t enough. Parker Tuomie had a goal and an assist for Minnesota State in the win.
Ferris State 2, Alaska Anchorage 1
Trevor Recktenwald scored the game-winner at 15:04 while the teams were playing four-on-four hockey and goaltender Justin Kapelmaster made 10 saves, facing only one shot in the third period, as Ferris State edged Alaska Anchorage at home. Jarrett Brown got the lone goal for the Seawolves, tying the game at 8:46 of the second after Corey Mackin had given the Bulldogs the lead with a power-play goal just 36 seconds in the second period. Olivier Mantha made 37 saves for Alaska Anchorage.
Alaska 4, Lake Superior State 2
Tyler Cline, Colton Leiter, Ryker Leer and Marcus Basara scored for the host Nanooks, who overcame a 1-0 deficit with four straight goals in the second and third periods. Alaska’s Niko DellaMaggiore received a major penalty for facemasking and a disqualification as a result of a scuffle after the final horn. Six other players received majors and game misconducts. Gus Correale and Bryan Basilico scored for the Lakers.
