PRINCETON, N.J. — Lovisa Selander made 50 saves for Rensselaer and Fiona McKenna tallied two points for Princeton, as the Engineers and Tigers skated to a 3-3 tie on Friday night.
McKenna got the Tigers on the board first with just under 3:00 to play in the first period, collecting a pass from Emily Achterkirch and firing a snap shot from the left circle that slowly skipped through Selander for the 1-0 lead.
Shana Tomlinson scored twice in the second stanza to capture the lead for the Engineers. First, at 6:15 Jenn Godin and Alexa Gruschow set up the play to Tomlinson, who ripped a shot from just outside the slot beating Kimberley Newell up high to knot the game 1-1.
Then with 4:16 left to play in the period, Tomlinson set up a screen at the top of the goal crease and executed a perfect deflection on a shot from the right point by Amanda Kimmerle.
Princeton and Rensselaer traded goals less than one minute apart in the first half of the third, as Kiersten Falck tallied her third goal on the year for the Tigers at 11:42, and Alexa Gruschow netted her 13th of the year for the Engineers at 12:23.
Princeton tied the game one final time at 16:59, as Karlie Lund picked up her 16th goal of the season assisted by Morgan Sly and Cassidy Tucker.
