PRINCETON, N.J. — Mitch Gillam made 32 saves to earn the shutout as No. 17 Cornell defeated Princeton 1-0 at Hobey Baker Rink Saturday night.

It was the Big Red’s first win since Jan. 9, breaking a seven-game winless streak (0-5-2).

After a scoreless first period, Princeton’s Eric Robinson knocked the puck into the net early in the second, but officials waved the goal off and blew the whistle to stop play. After a quick review, the on-ice call was confirmed.

Then at 8:58, John Knisley netted the only goal of the game for his second goal of the season. Knisley gathered a pass from Alec McCrea, skated to the top of the left circle and fired the puck inside the right post for the game-winner.

The Tigers outshot the Big Red 32-30 but were unable to beat Gillam, who improved to 12-7-4. Colton Phinney made 29 saves for Princeton.
