On Wednesday, April 6, each team took the ice for an hour starting with the University of Notre Dame Fighting Irish followed by the University of Minnesota-Duluth Bulldogs, University of Michigan Wolverines and the University of North Dakota Fighting Sioux.

The off-day practices are open to the fans at no charge so if you are in town, I recommend you come down on Friday when the winner of Game 1 will take the ice at 11:15 am and the winner of Game 2 at 12:30 pm.

Seriously? Did you forget what season it is, or are you trying to look like an incompetent hack on purpose? “Northern Michigan needed five games this season to register a win, but after opening the 2009-10 campaign 0–4–1, NMU has gone 8–4–2 since Oct. 29.” I know you won’t retract this glaring error, or even admit to once again this season posting an incorrect stat about NMU but Paula it’s the 2010-2011 season. According to your first article of the year the Cats ended the 2009-2010 season in a 4-2 double OT loss to St. Cloud State in the first round of the NCAA tournament.

Proofread much? Last time I checked Lake Superior State’s mascot was the Lakers, not the Broncos.

The number certified from Guinness was for the purposes of plaque presentation only. They said counting will actually take weeks of pouring through aerial photographs and other counting methods, but that when they needed a number for the 2nd period, the 85,000+ was more than enough to award the record. Perhaps taking the time to read the website from Guinness instead of quoting the Free Press (which has been known to quote Wikipedia), regardless of the number, might keep things like this from blowing up in USCHO’s face at a later date.

Fail on your picture blog U.S.C.H.O. Count the # of pics per team. University of North Dakota FIGHTING SIOUX were a little short changed. Thats O.K. the Sioux are going spanked some serious keister tonight!! Then on to the final game for continuation of the same.

Could have been because it was the fourth practice and they just didn’t have as much time to upload pictures? I really do admire the spirit of the Sioux fans, but it has been a bit over the top for over a week now.

  • Sorry folks – it is actually because I left the images uploading and went to bed assuming they’d complete before anyone else was up and looking (it was after 4 am). Just got up and discovered the connection had died. The final 22 images – all Fighting Sioux – are uploading now. Had Michigan had the fourth spot, they’d be the ones short – it’s just a computer/I needed sleep/I always choose too many images to edit and therefore run late on the first day thing. I’ll post another comment when I see that it is complete and I’ll also let you know which image you can skip to to see the remaining ones.

    Again sorry.

  • And it failed again with a whopping 3 images uploading over 40 minutes. Heading to rink now. Should upload quickly once I get there.

I believe the Picture of Justin Faulk watching the Notre Dame practice is actually a picture of Luke McManus

    • The one Duluth player I can easily recognize I “mis-recognized”? Or did you mean the ? player after the Faulk id-ed one.

  • WooHoo! Xcel internet was super speedy so all are uploaded now. I didn’t do a final count per team, but I think it is fairly even. And if it is at all off, it isn’t bias-related, I think one year I shorted my favorite team who sadly is not here.
