Former Western Michigan forward David Gove was found shortly before 4 p.m. Wednesday in Pittsburgh and was pronounced dead less than a half-hour later.
He was 38.
Gove played for the Broncos from 1997 to 2001 and recorded 57 goals and 86 assists for 143 points in 144 games.
He later skated in two NHL games with the Carolina Hurricanes.
Gove was named interim head coach of the ECHL’s Wheeling Nailers in December 2015, but took a personal leave of absence in April 2016 and did not return, according to the Wheeling News-Register. The leave of absence was never explained.
