Defensemen Will Butcher of Denver, Gavin Bayreuther of St. Lawrence and Jake Walman of Providence repeated as All-Americans when the 2016-17 teams were announced on Friday.

Butcher, the Hobey Baker Award winner, was a first-team West selection after he made the second team last year.

Bayreuther and Walman were second-team picks in the East. Walman was on the first team last season; Bayreuther was on the second team.

Denver had three players honored across the two teams, while Harvard, Omaha, St. Lawrence and Union had two each.

Denver has FIVE players on 201617 All-America teams? Will Butcher, Henrik Borgstrom (both first team), Tanner Jaillet (second team). By my math, that’s THREE!

Don’t confuse us with the facts.

I believe they go to a 3rd team that isn’t shown here for some reason. Denver is impressive. Losing a lot of key players this Summer as is my Lowell team.

You are correct, they did not show 3rd teams. I think Terry and Hillman were the other two. Sorry your team lost to ND, think UML-Denver would have been a great game.

I think Lowell could have given Denver a game as well as we tied UMD twice. Oh well that is why we watch sports, anything can happen. Notre Dame had puck luck in Manchester, but was embarrassing in Chicago. Lowell recruits hard working players who are not drafted so an extra sniper or two would be nice. BU is loaded yet cannot get to the frozen Four the past two years. Great final tonight. Should be hockey at its best. Good luck to your Denver team.

Difference in your loss to ND was their goalie, Petersen. He played two great game against us at Magness earlier in the year. He stopped 96 of 99 shots for the two games, both ending in ties (1-1,2-2). Thanks for the good luck, we will need it. Only hope the refs call warranted penalties, game might get bloody as DU won’t take chippy crap.
