Nebraska-Omaha junior left wing Terry Broadhurst has signed a professional contract with the NHL’s Chicago Blackhawks, foregoing his senior season with the Mavericks.

“Terry has excelled in his three seasons at UNO and he is someone who has always had high expectations,” said UNO coach Dean Blais in a statement. “It has been his aspiration to play in the NHL and this is a step toward that goal. We wish him the best.”

Broadhurst was UNO’s second-leading scorer during the 2011-12 season with 16 goals and 20 assists for 36 points. The native of Orland Park, Ill. led the team with seven power-play goals, ranked second with three game winners and was one of six players to appear in all 38 games.

I actually agree with you…this kid was good but not great.  I think these college players (like him) would most likely develop better in college as he will no even be that great of an AHL player.  But hey, we’ll see.
